 Heather Ellefson, Receptionist

 Heather has lived in the Carson Valley for most of her life;   She graduated from Douglas high school before   continuing on to TMCC.  She currently lives in Minden   with her husband Cort and son Travis, along with their   pitbull Sassy, and two snakes Ezra and Rosie.   She enjoys golfing, shooting, riding her motorcycle, and 4   wheeling every chance she gets.

Jacquie Wyllie, Receptionist

Jacquie graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Radiologic Technology.  After working for over 20 years in human medicine specializing in CT and MRI, she applied her skills to veterinary medicine.  She graduated from Cedar Valley College with a degree in Veterinary Technology.  A horseback riding injury prevented her from completing the path to become a licensed veterinary technician, but it never sidelined her enthusiasm to help clients and patients.  Jacquie joined Great Basin's team in 2017. In her off time Jacquie enjoys spending time with her husband Dave and their children, Shane and Jillian.  Jacquie still rides her quarter horse, Diesel, and has 2 dogs, 2 cats, a bunny, and a bird.

Equine Health Technicians

Wendy Wyatt, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Wendy is a native of Eureka, Nevada.  She obtained her associate's degree of veterinary technology from Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming and received her license at College of Southern Nevada.  Wendy has worked for several equine practices including Desert Pines Equine Medical & Surgical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and Weatherford Equine in Weatherford, Texas.   Her professional interests include anesthesia, intensive care nursing, and wound management.  In her free time, Wendy is an amazing photographer and enjoys mixed martial arts and hiking with her dogs Boo and Sadie. 

Amber Friesen, Veterinary Assistant

Amber was born and raised in the Carson Valley.  Growing up she participated in both 4-H and FFA and took animal and equine science classes in high school.  Amber joined Great Basin Equine in 2008 and enjoys helping horses on a daily basis.  Outside of work she enjoys horseback riding and showing shetland sheepdogs in AKC conformation shows. 

Annaliese Erwin, Veterinary Assistant

Annaliese spends her time outside of work riding horses, traveling, and hunting with her husband, Jim.  She has an extensive furry family including 3 horses, 1 dog, 3 cats, and 5 hedgehogs.  Her passion is bovine medicine and she is currently working towards a bachelors degree in animal science.  She plans on showing her new filly in reining cow horse. She is happiest going on outdoor adventures with her husband.

Tara Richardson, Veterinary Assistant

Tara has lived in the Carson Valley since she was a baby. She has had a love for horses since she was little and hopes to eventually have some of her own. She participated in FFA at Douglas High School as a part of the Horse Judging Team. She is currently working towards a Radiologic Technology degree at TMCC. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and boyfriend, Chris. 

Katie Delucchi, Veterinary Assistant

Katie Delucchi currently lives in Smith Valley with her husband Joe and her dog Sandy. She attended Cabrillo College and has an Associate's degree in Fire Science. Before joining us at Great Basin she worked for 4 years as a firefighter/EMT and has always had a love for horses and other animals. In her spare time she enjoys riding dirtbikes, snowboarding, and shooting sporting clays. 


Martin Mendoza, Facility Maintenance

Martin lives in Gardnerville with his wife and kids.  He is a jack of many trades and we greatly value all of his skills and hard work here at Great Basin Equine.
